Are You Afraid of the Gym?

Entering a Strength and Conditioning Gym as a newbie can feel a bit scary. Perhaps you feel a bit intimidated by the environment. Maybe you lack confidence in your own ability. Or you're worried about what others think of you.

But you know what? These feelings are normal, and you are not alone! We promise you, it doesn't need to be this way.

Allow us to put your mind at ease.

Below are the most common fears, with strategies you can implement to start feeling more confident today.

FEAR #1: “Everyone is looking at me.”

Our philosophy at Extreme Conditioning is simple. We have no tolerance for ego, and we make it our responsibility to foster a friendly atmosphere that encourages support for one another.

And the reality is, people are much more concerned with themselves anyway! Whether it's their own physique, performance, or just getting stuff done – they're thinking about themselves because they feel the same way as you!

The most effective way to overcome this is by attending the gym as regularly as you can. Like all new endeavours, it's uncomfortable starting out. But the more you spend time in the environment with others, the more you will see how friendly it is here, and the more your confidence will soar!

FEAR #2: “I don't want to ask questions incase I look foolish.”

Here at Extreme Conditioning, we are coaches first and foremost. In other words, we are here to support our members each step of the way, and we encourage questions. In doing so, you ensure your own safety and you'll start building confidence in your ability.

Don't forget: You are here for results. Asking for help from a professional is a short cut to getting what you want!

FEAR #3: “It's too hard for me. I won't be good enough.”

First of all, you are always good enough, and we all have to start somewhere! While all of our classes are designed to challenge you, no workout is beyond your ability. We cater for everyone to ensure we meet you where you're at, while giving you the support and encouragement you need to meet your goals.

So, whether you're an experienced trainer or you're just starting out - we've got you covered.

What are you waiting for? Come down and see for yourself!
